I am a former molecular biologist, database architect, and now in my third career as a photographer. My life has been a constant engagement with the natural world in deserts, sparse landscapes, inland waterways and coasts, mountains and rivers, and high alpine regions with glaciers and wild weather. For a dozen years, I concentrated on exploration and alpine climbs on high peaks in Cascade Range, British Columbia and Alaska, but always taking and using my SLR companion to capture the journey. This led to multi-image presentations on remote and wild places of remarkable beauty and also teaching climbing. More recently, I try to keep time out of my way, and taking as many days as necessary to find what I'm looking for; yet intensely all day long. I work on month or multi-month projects to find more than the obvious and thus lesser known but prized intrigues and intricacies, principally in the America West and historical places like the east coast and China. These projects focus and lead to the interactions among photos almost equal to the photos themselves with an emphasis on their presentation and inter-relatedness . I take inspiration from the world we see do not see directly, such as microscopic views and the universe only captured by powerful telescopes.
